The NHS is changing messaging services

From September 2023, if you have downloaded the NHS APP, some of our text messages will go directly to the App.

We will only send you a message if we need to contact you, for example if we have an update about your care or changes to our services. Please note that we will continue to send you routine monitoring and vaccination appointment invitations by the usual SMS (text) message.

How can I find my messages?

The best way to keep up with your messages is to download the NHS App on Google Play or the App Store

You will receive messages in the 'view your messages’ section within the home page of the App.

To ensure you do not miss a message, turn on notifications:

  1. Log in to the NHS App
  2. Go to ‘more’
  3. Select ‘account and settings’
  4. Then select ‘manage notifications’
  5. Use the toggle to turn notifications on

You will see a new notification from the NHS App whenever we send you a new message.

If your notifications are turned off, you will still receive our messages, but you will not see a notification on your device to alert you that a new message has been received.

Please speak with a member of the Patient Assistant team if you would like to opt out of receiving text messages or would like further information on this service.

Please see the practice privacy notice on our website or in the waiting rooms at either surgery if you would like more information on how the NHS use your information.
