Guidance Relating To The Measles Outbreak
You may be aware of the recent measles outbreak in certain parts of the UK, as reported by the UK Health Authority. Measles is highly infectious and serious at any age; it isn’t just a childhood disease. It is important to make sure that you and your family are protected, as anyone who isn’t vaccinated can catch measles and it can have serious and sometimes fatal consequences. Please make sure your child is up to date with their MMR vaccinations. We strongly advise any patient who isn't immunised, children or adults, book an appointment with us to receive their vaccination.
We have introduced new measures within the practice to reduce risk where possible, and we ask that patients are mindful of the importance of minimising the spread of the disease. If you suspect you or your child has measles or, if you have been in contact with an infectious person, in the first instance please do not come to the practice. Please send an eConsult appointment request and a member of our clinical team will triage your submission and contact you. If you are unable to access eConsult, please telephone the practice and a member of our team will assist you.
If you are travelling over the next few weeks, please note that you may be visiting an area where there are higher numbers of the disease.
