Practice participation group
Who are we ?
The Downend Health Group 'Willow Surgery' formed a Practice Participation Group (PPG) in 2014. This is a group of individuals who may not have any medical training but do have an interest in the services provided by their surgery.
The aim of a PPG is to work in partnership with the healthcare and management teams to ensure that service users views are represented.
It is therefore hoped that our PPG will contribute to a continuous improvement of the services offered by the Downend Health Group as well as provide practical support when necessary. Examples of how other PPGs have helped surgeries include:
-
Help with, and discuss the results of, patient surveys
-
Aid communication with patients
-
Provide services in the surgery eg health promotion information
-
Encourage patients to engage more actively in their own healthcare
-
Contribute to service development and decision making
-
Improve practice equipment and facilities
Aims and Objectives
We meet on a regular basis. Each meeting lasts for approximately one hour. The agreed aims and objectives for the group are:
-
Improvements for patients and staff
-
Health Promotion
-
Improving Patient Education, Health and Services
